1. Support a Dance Competition

The New Braunfels Civic Center is playing host to the 2018 Legacy Dance Competition this month. This dance competition is unlike any other, as it is designed to strengthen the dancer's skills, as well as the teachers and choreographers that put in just as much work.

2. See a Big Band Orchestra

The Glenn Miller Orchestra is coming to the Brauntex Theatre this March to play all the American favorites you know and love. This band was formed in 1937 and has continued to play shows even after Miller’s death in 1944, with a rotating cast of players to keep the music alive. 3. Watch a Hilarious Play

Geezers, a dramatic comedy play, is being performed at the STAGE Theatre the first weekend of March. The story revolves around Jack, a shy 27-year-old, as he starts working at a retirement home... but it seems that the “geezers” are the ones who end up helping Jack with his own life. This is a funny and heartwarming play that you won’t want to miss! Tickets are available here.

4. Eat at a Cook-Off

Comal County is having a Cook-Off at the “Rocking R River Rides” location in Gruene. Teams will enter for three types of meat: brisket, spare ribs, and chicken, and (of course) chili. There are also events for margaritas, beans, and cook’s choice for teams to win prizes. Plus, washer and corn hole tournaments will give everyone else the chance to win big. Just looking to hang out? General admission is $15 a day and includes food and drinks.

6. Listen to Some Great Soul Music

Living in the Texas Hill Country, we get to hear a lot of country and rock music, but it isn’t often that we get to enjoy the greatness of R&B and Soul music. The Villa at Gruene is putting on a night of Soul Sessions, with a unique mix of Central Texas R&B, Soul, and Funk musicians.

5. Run (or Walk) a 5K

The Gruene Historic District is kicking off the Kinderschuhe 5K Run & Walk on Saturday, March 3rd. All proceeds from the race to go help Communities in Schools purchase shoes for low-income school children. For more information visit the website!

7. Catch Shooter Jennings Live

Shooter Jennings is taking the stage at the Historic Gruene Hall on Friday, March 9th. 8. Make a Splash at Schlitterbahn

Schlitterbahn is opening up the Blastenhoff section of the park for Spring Breakers to have a little fun before Summer gets here. From March 10-18th, The park will be open, and guests can ride the award-winning “Master Blaster,” among many others! Tickets and information are available on the website.

10. Taste Some New Wines

The Grapevine is having another great wine sampling night on Thursday, March 15th. A featured Texas winery will showcase three of their newest released, top selling, or hardest to find wines, as well as wines available from the Grapevine staff. These complimentary tastings are held on the patio and are for guests to get familiar with the Grapevine and all they have to offer.
