15 Things to Do in New Braunfels in July

New Braunfels residents love that the town provides so much to see and do while still maintaining a great culture and small town feel. This month is no exception; there are a variety of different “things” happening in and around town. No need to research, fifteen of the best fun things to do in New Braunfels this month are described below. Hopefully, this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country day a little easier!

1. Celebrate the 4th of July

One of our favorite events out of the year is the 4th of July parade happening in the Main Plaza in downtown New Braunfels. The Sophienburg is hosting this classic parade, beginning in the morning with a flyover from the Commemorative Air Force and ending with a patriotic program at the plaza. Bring your flag wave it around as we celebrate freedom with friends and family.

2. Go Spiderman Crazy

The Stars and Stripes Drive-in Theatre is premiering the new movie, “Spiderman: Homecoming” on July 7-8 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Bring the whole family and enjoy a movie like old times! 3. Get a Tattoo

This month, the New Braunfels Convention Center is hosting the Ink Masters Tattoo Show for the 2nd year. It will be a weekend full of art, food, family fun, and (of course) tattoos. If you’ve ever been interested in getting a tattoo or piercing professionally done by master artists from all around the world, this is the weekend to go. More details on the website!

4. Get Your Tween Out of the House

Stop the video-gaming and snap-chatting for a week or so this summer by enrolling your tweens in a fun camp put on by the city. 5. Check Out a Free Concert in the Park

The Parks and Recreation Department is hosting musical groups throughout the summer at the Landa Park Dance Slab. Grab some food, a chair, and maybe your outdoor dancing shoes and come out for a free concert each Thursday night this month! The month of July will feature Roadside Libby, Slim Bawb and the Fabulous Stumpgrinders, Pepper’s Blues, and Grissomhill.

6. Get Some Summer Produce at the Farmers Market

Summer is in full swing, and that means summer seasonal fruits and veggies are back at the New Braunfels Farmers Market. Every Saturday from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM, the farmer’s market hosts loads of vendors selling fresh produce. There is always something good to grab here, so make sure to get there early.

7. Watch Ghostland Observatory at Whitewater Amphitheater

Austin electro-rockers Ghostland Observatory are getting together during their hiatus to perform at the Whitewater Amphitheater this month. The duo was one of the biggest bands in Texas in 2007, soaring into the national spotlight soon after, acquiring thousands of fans at each tour stop around the country. They have been named the Austin American-Statesman’s “Band of the Year” and are ready to rock out at this Hill Country venue. Tickets available here.

8. Catch a Summer Musical

The Circle Arts Theatre is setting the stage this month for Big River, the Adventure of Huckleberry Finn. Big River is a musical play based on Mark Twain’s classic 1884 novel and features musical numbers in the bluegrass and country styles to stay true to the novel. Tickets can be purchased here.

9. Go to a Social Club

New to downtown New Braunfels is the Downtown Social, a neat spot for family and friends who want to go out together. Have dinner, watch a sporting game, go bowling, hang out at the bar, and play bar games in this brand new entertainment club. There is so much to do, but you should check it out for yourself! 10. Shop Crafty at the Peddler Show

At the end of this month, The Peddler Show is making its way to New Braunfels to let patrons come and shop for the latest trends and fashions in apparel, jewelry, accessories, home decor, and more from talented designers and artisans. 11. Catch a Summer Film

12. Sign Up for Summer Camp

13. Join a Book Club

The New Braunfels Public Library is hosting book clubs all month for those who love to read and discuss their summer reads. This July, “Waiting“ by Ha Jin will be discussed on July 12th at 1:30 PM, and “The Life We Bury” by Allen Eskens will be discussed July 20th at 3:00 PM.

14. Let the Kiddos Play Sports
