New Braunfels residents love that the town provides so much to see and do while still maintaining a great culture and small town feel. This weekend is no exception; there are a variety of different “things” happening in and around town. No need to research, five of the best fun things to do in New Braunfels this weekend are described below. Hopefully this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little easier!

1. Experience the cute-fest that is the Kindermasken Parade

There might not be anything more adorable (or more quintessentially “New Braunfels”) than the traditional Kindermasken Parade set to take place this weekend! This parade invites your kids to dress up in traditional German garb (or really any costume...) and celebrate the upcoming May season. Appropriately set on the historic downtown streets of New Braunfels, Kindermasken is the town’s oldest heritage tradition. Originally created by Hermann Seele in the the 1850s, this costumed extravaganza was created to help children of all ages celebrate their German heritage. It’s kind of a big deal...some local families have participated in the parade for seven generations! If you’d like to participate in the festivities, be sure to line up at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church parking lot at 11:00 a.m. The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. and ends at Main Plaza.

When: Saturday, 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Where: Downtown New Braunfels

2. Taste all the fine details of Wein & Saengerfest

We know how much Hill Country folks love good quality craft beer and fine wine! After all, Texas has been recently acclaimed as the next Napa Valley by Southern Living. To celebrate the area’s heritage of vineyards and breweries, the 13th Annual Wein & Saengerfest will be held in historic downtown New Braunfels on Saturday. The festival will feature many culinary-inspired activities like wine and craft beer tasting, food seminars and a Chef’s Showdown. Other entertainment includes live music, an artisan market, activities for kids, and a street dance at Main Plaza! By participating in the Wein & Saengerfest, you won’t only be benefitting your own taste buds: all proceeds will go towards the New Braunfels Parks Foundation and the New Braunfels Downtown Association. By participating in this important piece of New Braunfels culture, you’re bettering New Braunfels itself...and did we mention general admission is FREE? If you’d like to splurge, wine tastings ($15 for 5 tastings and a commemorative wine glass) and craft beer tastings ($15 for 4 tastings and a commemorative glass) will be available. And, to keep everyone safe and happy, a round-trip shuttle service will be provided from the Landa Plaza parking lot on Landa Street beginning at 11 a.m.

When: Saturday, 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm
