Five Things to Do in New Braunfels This Weekend (Jan. 15-17)

New Braunfels residents love that the town provides so much to see and do while still maintaining a great culture and small town feel. This weekend is no exception; there are a variety of different “things” happening in and around town. No need to research, five of the best fun things to do in New Braunfels this weekend are described here. Hopefully this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little easier!

1. Marvel at the Artwork That Is The New Braunfels Historic Outdoor Art Museum.

You’ve probably seen them if you’ve ever been out and about in downtown New Braunfels – the murals painted on the walls of historic buildings. But, have you ever taken the time to really look at them? The six historic building murals that you may or may not have seen make up the New Braunfels Historic Outdoor Art Museum. With a mission of “teaching and celebrating local history and heritage through art while enhancing New Braunfel’s historic district,” this outdoor “museum” was founded in 1996. Since then images depicting the history of the city, from Native Americans, to small children wearing lederhosen and dirndls, commemorate the rich heritage that New Braunfels is known for. So grab a map, and head downtown; these incredible masterpieces are not something that should be passed by- go take a closer look!

Where: Along various building exteriors in the Historic Downtown District. **A good place to start is West San Antonio Street and Castell Avenue one block from the main plaza.

Located in historic Downtown New Braunfels, the brewery, owned by native New Braunfels-ites, crafts their beers to reflect the community, refresh the palette, and offer up fun. This Saturday will feature three of their Bauernhaus series beers on tap for the first time. 4. Find Yourself Bewitched at Into the Woods

Into The Woods has seen huge success and now The Brauntex showcases the twisted fairytale as The Brothers Grimm goes Broadway. In the story the once beautiful witch, a baker, and his wife, whom are all without children, venture into the woods to find the ingredients that will reverse the spell that left them childless and restore the witch's beauty. Searching for a milk-white cow, hair as yellow as corn, a blood-red cape, and a slipper of gold, the three meet Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Jack, each one on a quest to fulfill a wish. Will they all live happily ever after or will they have a fate far less lucky? You’ll have to go see to find out!
