Valentine’s Day is just around the corner...and if you’re as busy as we’ve been, you might be scrambling to come up with the perfect plan for you and your sweetheart. Lucky for us, we live in one of the more charming towns in Texas! It wasn’t hard to come up with a list of phenomenal local Valentine’s day dates.

Whether you’re looking for a wildly exceptional dinner-and-a-movie or something more offbeat, here are 7 fun things to do on Valentine’s Day!

1. Go for Dinner and Game Night

If you have a flair for quirky and unique date ideas, you should check out the Sylver Spoon Dinner Theater on Valentine’s Day. Sip on a cocktail on a comfy couch in the lounge before dinner, while listening to acoustic love songs by Leann and Noah Pearce. The chef is creating a menu for the evening that will please any palate, and of course, will be paired with a delicious glass of wine. After dinner comes the fun when you and your lover can participate in a New Braunfels Newlywed Game with other guests, which is sure to be a roaring good time. Registration is available on their website!

2. See a Drive-in Movie

If you can’t get a babysitter but still want to do something fun for the night, Stars and Stripes Drive-in Theatre is a wonderfully unique and nostalgic place to entertain folks of all ages in the Hill Country. Park your car in front of the screen, unpack the lawn chairs, and head to the concession stand for the full experience. This old-fashioned way of watching movies sure hasn’t gone out of style around here! We think that classic movies are the most romantic, and three screens mean three different options for double features. For movie times and tickets, check out the website!

3. Have a Picnic in Landa Park

Planning your Valentine’s Day date might prove to be difficult if you and your love aren’t quite as social as the rest of the world. That’s okay! Keep your romance between the two of you and spend a night strolling around Landa Park. Prep a light meal of cheese, bread, and other goodies (and maybe that bottle of wine you’ve been dying to try) in a nice picnic basket (this one looks dreamy). Spend the evening under the stars, laughing and dreaming about where your love will take you next.

4. Stay in a Vintage Mansion

What’s more romantic than a night in a historic mansion? Gruene Mansion Inn was built in 1872 and has kept its old-world charm ever since! This bed and breakfast holds history within its walls and is one of the cornerstones of Historic Gruene. Get a room, tune out the worries of work and life, and enjoy one another. If you must go outside, stroll past Gruene Hall, the Gristmill, and all of the lovely shops lining the streets. Gruene Mansion Inn typically runs a special for Valentine’s Day - so be on the lookout and book online.

Looking for an out-of-the-box option for you and your significant other? Painting with a Twist is offering some special sessions just for Valentine’s Day. Painting with a Twist is a BYOB art studio for adults who aren’t necessarily skilled in the art of painting, but want to stretch their artistic muscles and drink a little beer or wine in a laid back environment. The studio offers two different themes for the night: “The Key to My Heart” and “Deer and Doe Set.” The couple will paint on both sides of the same canvas to create a joint work of art. (And heck...for any single people out there, this may be a great way to meet someone.) Registration is required to hold your spot, and seating is limited. Sign up here!
