The Most Delicious Dog-Friendly Spots in NB

The town of New Braunfels has always had two distinct things running through its blood: beautiful natural features and a distinctly “small town” vibe. Well, we couldn’t help but notice that with those two things seem to come a third (distinctly furrier) element: dogs.

As more and more cities across the country are becoming more “pet-friendly,” dog lovers everywhere can tote along their furry friend to restaurants, bars, and other social places. In light of this rising trend, we wanted to spotlight the friendly businesses in New Braunfels that want you to bring the pets to the party!

Infernos Wood Fired Oven & Spirits

Just down the street from Gruene River Grill is Infernos Wood Fired Oven & Spirits, a place that excels in both pizza and great beverages. Once again, the outdoor patio is perfect for our furry friends to join you indulge in some hand-tossed, wood-fired pizza pies. Out for a drink? Infernos has fresh-made sangria that tastes amazing and will definitely help you wind down after a busy workweek.

If you're thinking your pup deserves a good round of chips and margaritas, we can't say we recommend anywhere more than Herbert's (...but we also can't officially recommend giving your dog tequila, either).  Herbert's is a family-owned local gem that serves high-quality queso, guac, flautas, fajitas, soapapillas, and more! Plus, the adjacent patio makes for excellent outdoor dining and lounging with your furry friend.

Watering Hole Saloon

The Watering Hole Saloon is for those of you who are looking to find a great dive bar and stay loyal to it. Expect a true Texas hole-in-the-wall feel that welcomes you and your pets...and provides affordable drinks at the same time! There isn’t much to this place, but that is what’s special about it: no frills, just a place to come after work, hang with friends, listen to music, and let your dog enjoy the good company.

The Pour Haus is truly a dog’s paradise. The outdoor seating is friendly and inviting, and many of the patrons enjoy seeing dogs at the bar - making the experience at The Pour Haus a more intimate and backyard-style hangout. This place has a definite Austin vibe, complete with an open space plan, live music, and a bubbly atmosphere...all while maintaining the neighborly attitude New Braunfels is famous for.

Let’s face it: a perfectly well-behaved dog deserves a night on the town, too! But in all seriousness, we love seeing dogs around at some of our favorite places because it makes New Braunfels feel that much more like a small town. Note: New Braunfels recently passed a city ordinance that requires restaurants to acquire a permit before allowing dogs on the premises.
