New Braunfels residents love that the town provides so much to see and do while still maintaining a great culture and small town feel. This weekend is no exception; there are a variety of different “things” happening in and around town. No need to research, five of the best fun things to do in New Braunfels this weekend are described below. Hopefully this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little easier!
1. Drink Up on the Hill Country Brewery Tour
Looking for a way to taste all of the local flavor? The Hill Country Brewery Tour is one of the best ways to try out all of the beers that are brewed right in our area. Start things off by filling your stomach with Underground Pizza, then head over to the first stop at New Braunfels Brewing Company. A German inspired brewery, NB Brew Co has eight taps with selections ranging from light to dark. They are currently running a sour series, and you can learn more about what makes a beer sour.
After that, visit Middleton Brewing in Wimberley and Guadalupe Brewing (be sure to try their Honey Ale and Scotch Ale). The tour will wrap up at Patek’s Craft Beer Bar, an exciting place to try new and interesting beers. Tickets are available here and include an OffRhodes Belgium Taster Glass and beer tastings at all three breweries, lunch at Underground Pizza, photos of the trip, and safe transport throughout the whole tour.
When: Saturday, 11:00AM - 6:00PM
Where: 911 River Hill Rd
2. Grab Some Fresh Food at the New Braunfels Farmer’s Market
Come to the Farmers Market on S Castell to take your pick at the wonderful food available to you. With more than 75 vendors every Saturday, this might be your only grocery stop all week. Farmers pick produce on Friday to bring to market on Saturday. Other than fruits and vegetables, you can find grass-fed meats, eggs, bacon, home necessities and skin care items, as well as hot food to eat while you shop. Spend the morning picking out fresh foods while listening to live music and enjoying the day with friends and family.
When: Saturday, 9:00AM-1:00PM
Where: New Braunfels Farmers Market, 186 S Castell
3. Eat Free Pizza at the Urban Bricks Pizza Co Grand Opening
At long last, Urban Bricks Pizza Company is opening and is ready to start serving the Hill Country some delicious pizza. Urban Bricks offers a build-your-own 11” gourmet pizza for only $7.99, but Saturday they are offering FREE pizza from noon-2:00PM to anyone looking to celebrate with them. Want more toppings (that’s a pizza pun)? There will be an opportunity to win FREE pizza for a year. That’s a lot of dough!
When: Saturday, Noon-2:00PM
Where: 2955 Town Center Dr. Ste. 400 (Creekside)
4. Listen to Live Music with Ray Wylie Hubbard
Local legend Ray Wylie Hubbard is taking over Gruene Hall on Saturday night to bring some Texas country tradition to town. Known for his songs “Snake Farm” and “Up Against the Wall, Redneck Mother”, Hubbard is no stranger to the Hill Country music scene. Hot off the release of “The Ruffian’s Misfortune”, expect to hear some autobiographical lyrics laden with honesty as well as embellishment. There isn’t a much better place to check out this legend than in the iconic Gruene Hall. Tickets are available here. Get them fast!
When: Saturday, 8:00PM
Where: Gruene Hall, 1281 Gruene Rd
