Five Things to Do in New Braunfels This Weekend (July 1-4)

New Braunfels residents love that the town provides so much to see and do while still maintaining a great culture and small town feel. This weekend is no exception; there are a variety of different “things” happening in and around town. No need to research, five of the best fun things to do in New Braunfels this weekend are described below. Hopefully this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little easier!

Watch the Spazmatics Perform

Sunday night the wacky and wildly talented band The Spazmatics are going to take over the stage at the Whitewater Amphitheater. Interestingly enough, they are a chain band, which means there are several versions of The Spazmatics that perform in greater metro areas all around the country. These guys are known for their electric live shows and unique performances paying homage to “Revenge of the Nerds”. As an 80s New Wave band (think “She Blinded Me With Science”), The Spazmatics recapture all the best of the worst with their outstanding musicianship combined with creative flair and style, which makes for an evening of pure energy and entertainment. Tickets here.

When: Sunday, Doors at 7:30PM

Where: Whitewater Amphitheater, 11860 FM 306

Go Floating and See Fireworks at Whitewater

Whitewater Amphitheater takes Fourth of July weekend very seriously and plans to keep the party rolling through Monday. Whitewater Sports will open up Friday, July 1st at 9:00AM and stay open through the entire Fourth of July weekend for patrons to come and enjoy the sweet bliss of the Guadalupe River. It’s no secret that New Braunfels is a hot destination for holiday weekends for tourists, so if you are a local looking to get the best out of where you live, make sure you get there early and bring your own toobs! If not, Whitewater will provide rentals for you and your cooler. Immediately following the Spazmatics show on Sunday, Whitewater is launching fireworks to celebrate! Don’t miss out on the fun!

Watch a Stage Version of Footloose

The Circle Arts Theatre is hosting a stage version of Footloose, based off the hit 80s movie with great music and lots of fancy dancing. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. The culture of the new town has rigorous local edicts, which includes a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher. When the preacher’s daughter sets her sights on Ren, he gets thrown into a turmoil of trying to be accepted by his peers and free them from an oppressive local leadership all while trying to balance a troublesome home life. Tickets are available online, in person, or over the phone at 830-837-6172.

When: Friday & Saturday, 8:00PM / Sunday, 2:00PM

Where: Circle Arts Theatre, 124 Elizabeth St
