5 Things to Do in New Braunfels (and Seguin!) This Weekend (May 27-29)

New Braunfels residents love that the town provides so much to see and do while still maintaining a great culture and small town feel. This weekend is no exception; there are a variety of different “things” happening in and around town. No need to research, some of the best fun things to do in New Braunfels (and Seguin!) this weekend are described here. Hopefully this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little easier!

1. Watch Roger Creager and Cody Johnson at Whitewater Amphitheater

Put on your dancing boots and head down to the amazing Whitewater Amphitheater to see some live Texas country music. Cody Johnson and Roger Creager are Texas country staples that will take the stage Sunday night to get the Hill Country people kicking up dust while they have a good time at the beautiful outdoor theater. If you’re lucky enough to not have work on Monday for a Memorial Day celebration, then this is the place to be on a rare Sunday night. Hear Johnson’s songs “Texas Kind of Way” and “Me and My Kind” as well as Creager’s “The Everclear Song” and “Love”. Sam Riggs opens the show at 7:00PM. Tickets available here.

When: Sunday, 7:00PM

Where: Whitewater Amphitheater, 11860 FM 306

2. Get Groovy at the Swing Jam Swing Dance Festival

Learn how to swing dance this weekend at the Swing Jam Swing Dance Festival. With no partner or experience needed, this is the perfect opportunity to learn how to do this incredibly fun style of dance to impress your friends at your next night out. There are four workshops for each dance level and the Dirty River Dixie Band will lead a few dances as well. Visit the website to register for the weekend of activities.

When: Friday, 7:30PM - Saturday, 11:30PM

Where: The Grande, 540 Porter St

3. Cool Off at Schlitterbahn Surf and Save Days

Friday is the last day to save at Schlitterbahn before the summer prices begin! Surf and Save Days opens up the Blastenhoff and Surfenburg sections of the world famous water park for patrons to enjoy the park before the schools let out and the lines get longer. Opened from 10-5, general admission tickets are available for $40.99 and children/seniors are $30.99. Grab grandma and slide down the Master Blaster and get swept up in the Torrent River for a day of fun for the whole family. Who says you can’t start summer before Memorial Day? Tickets are available at the park entrance.

When: Friday, 10:00AM-5:00PM

Where: Schlitterbahn Waterpark, 400 N Liberty Ave

4. Play at ZDT’s Amusement Park - Seguin

Make your way to Seguin this weekend to visit ZDT’s Amusement Park. There are plenty of attractions for the whole family to enjoy for the Memorial Day weekend. A full day of fun includes a wooden roller coaster, go-karts on multi-level tracks, a parachute drop, a flight simulator, and something called a dizzy toucan (sounds fun, I want in). On top of that, there are plenty of things to climb on and jump off of, and if it gets a little hot there are three water slides to cool off and get wet n wild. Prices available on the website.

When: Saturday, 11:00AM-9:00PM | Sunday, 12:00PM-8:00PM

Where: ZDT’s Amusement Park, 299 W Kingsbury St, Seguin, TX

5. Float Down the Comal River

Experience summer in the most Hill Country way possible by jumping in the clearest river water in the area - the Comal River. What begins with a frigid stumble into the water will soon turn into one of the most relaxing and beautiful floats you can imagine. Get the tubes, grab your favorite drinks (be responsible), and pack your least favorite sunglasses and lots of sunscreen and head down to the Landa Park entrance for a two-hour float under the baking sun. Once you hit the last public exit, feel free to hop on a shuttle and drop right back in where you began. A Comal River float is the quintessential way to begin your Texas summer with a splash.

When: Sunrise - Sundown

Where: Landa Park (Hinman Island Entrance)
