15 Fun Things to Do in New Braunfels in February

New Braunfels residents love that the town provides so much to see and do while still maintaining a great culture and small town feel. This weekend is no exception; there are a variety of different “things” happening in and around town. No need to research, fifteen of the best fun things to do in New Braunfels this month are described below. Hopefully this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little easier!

1. Learn About Growth in the Area

Our town has been growing a lot...but where do we go from here? Several organizations in New Braunfels have partnered up to facilitate group discussions with residents, businesses, and community leaders of Comal County. A panel of expert speakers will also present their thoughts and ideas on the subject. This event is designed to involve the whole community, so show up and make your voice heard! Registration required either online or at the event.

When: Thursday, February 2 at 1:00 PM - Friday, February 3 at 5:00 PM

2. Watch Some Musical Theatre

Throughout the month of February, the Circle Arts Theatre is putting on a performance of The Drowsy Chaperone. This play is a musical within a comedy: fun for people of any age. For anyone who is a fan of hilarious plays, musicals, and local theater - this is a no brainer. Tickets are available here and at the door.

3. Get in a Game Day Run

The Super Bowl LI will take place on first Sunday of the month, so (naturally) Rockin’ R figured it would be a good time to put on a fun run! Wear your favorite football jersey and run a 5K, then stick around for some tailgating. If you don’t have any plans, head to Mozie’s after to watch the game!

4. Taste the Town Flavors

The New Braunfels Civic Center is hosting “A Taste of the Town” on Tuesday night to benefit the NBISD Education Foundation. Attendees can munch on menu samples, bid on auction items, and enjoy live music. Fill your belly and help a good cause in the process!

5. Peruse the Doll Expo

The Hill Country Doll Show began 25 years ago and has now attracted 60-75 dealers! Vendor space always sells out, and attendance is always amazing. 6. Enter a Poetry Contest

The Greater New Braunfels Arts Council is hosting its 35th Annual Poetry Contest this month! Residents of the area are encouraged to write a poem on any subject and any form. Both experienced poets and beginners are invited to participate!

The entries will be divided into four age groups, each of which will award podium prizes and a grand prize. More details are available on their website.

7. Get Your Karaoke On

Karaoke may have originated in Japan, but it’s definitely become a Hill Country pastime. And while several local joints offer great karaoke, our favorites have got to be either the Phoenix Saloon for rock and roll jams or the Freiheit Country Store for vintage country tunes. Times and locations vary.

8. Enjoy a Romantic Valentine’s Day Dinner

10. Go Fly Fishing on the Guadalupe

The Guadalupe Chapter of Trout Unlimited presents TroutFest! 11. Wakeboard at Texas Ski Ranch

Our Texas January may be mild, but Texas Ski Ranch is still putting on their Freeze Ride for the 13th year straight! Compete in some wakeboarding fun for all skill levels and ages, then party afterward at Wahoo’s. The cable lake is going to have some new structures to shake things up a bit. Be sure to register in advance and be ready to shred!

12. Attend a Wine and Cheese Pairing

Dry Comal Creek has done wonders in the Boerne area, educating and entertaining our community through the world of wine. This event is no different! Taste ten wine and cheese pairings as you learn the concepts of how to properly pair the two. 13. Have a Ball at Mardi Gras

Celebrate the great Louisiana holiday of Mardi Gras down at the McKenna Events Center on the last Saturday of the month! This ball will benefit the Hope Hospice, featuring live music (Slim Bawb & the Fabulous Stumpgrinders), an open bar, auctions, and a Cajun-inspired dinner.
