Five Things to Do in New Braunfels (and Seguin!) This Labor Day Weekend September 2-5

New Braunfels residents love that the town provides so much to see and do while still maintaining a great culture and small town feel. This weekend is no exception; there are a variety of different “things” happening in and around town. No need to research, five of the best fun things to do in New Braunfels this weekend are described below. Hopefully, this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little easier!

Stroll Around First Friday Downtown

The New Braunfels Art League is hosting its monthly event, First Friday, this weekend in downtown New Braunfels. Kick off this Labor Day weekend by getting off work and heading down to San Antonio Street to see art demonstrations, browse some sidewalk sales, and meet the artists who create this wonderful art. Registering through the Art League will give you a chance to win a door prize. Don’t miss out on seeing what local artists have cooking up right in our very own town.

When: Friday, 5:00-9:00 PM

Play Golf at the Patriot Scramble

Landa Park Golf Course is hosting the Patriot Golf Day Tournament this Saturday to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation. This tournament is an 18-hole, four-person scramble that tees off at 8:00 AM. The $100 entry fee includes a golf cart, lunch, prizes, and the first 75 registrants will get a Patriot Golf Day Tervis Tumbler. The Folds of Honor Foundation provides the children and spouses of killed or wounded veterans with college scholarships to broaden their minds and their future. If you can’t make the golf tournament and still want to contribute, you can bid on the year’s custom Patriot Golf Day golf bag, or donate at the Pro Shop. This is the ever-popular weekend to get down to the river and clock in a few hours of Texas Hill Country toobing. The Maricopa Riverside Lodge sits on the Guadalupe River with nineteen rooms on the waterfront. Grab some friends, some drinks, and some toobs and embrace the last long weekend of Texas summer. Right up the road is the Whitewater Amphitheater, and if you book at Maricopa Riverside for this weekend, you will receive free tickets to see the Spazmatics this Saturday! For all of the information on booking, check out the website for more information!

Listen to the Randy Rogers Band at Whitewater Amphitheater

Texas Country’s modern legend Randy Rogers is serving up a good time for the holiday weekend down at Whitewater Amphitheater. They are no strangers to the Hill Country area, and any country fan knows that, not only do they provide great tunes to fill the air; they also create an atmosphere of fun and freedom. Touring their 2016 release “Nothing Shines Like Neon”, the Randy Rogers Band has only picked up momentum and has no plans of stopping. Alt-country band American Aquarium from Raleigh, NC will be joining them, and Red Shahan kicks the night off. Tickets available on the website and at the door.

Watch “Don’t Dress for Dinner” at Seguin’s Texas Theatre

Seguin has a ton of fun stuff happening this Labor Day Weekend, but we wanted to spotlight this hysterical play entitled “Don’t Dress for Dinner”. In the play, five people who all seemingly know each other are hiding secret affairs across the table. A couple of husbands, a mistress, a wife, and a cook all pretend throughout the dinner to be who the others think they are while trying not to get caught. This seems like a recipe for disaster for the dinner guests, yet provides massive entertainment for the audience. The Texas Theatre in Seguin is hosting this performance over the next two weekends - so don’t miss out! Tickets are available at Gift & Gourmet, Keepers, Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce, online, or at the door.
