Five Things to Do in New Braunfels This Weekend (December 16-18)

New Braunfels residents love that the town provides so much to see and do while still maintaining a great culture and small town feel. This weekend is no exception; there are a variety of different “things” happening in and around town. No need to research, five of the best fun things to do in New Braunfels this weekend are described below. Hopefully, this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little easier!

Drop by the Caverns for Christmas

For the entire week, the Natural Bridge Caverns will be hosting their annual Christmas at the Caverns event. Head over to this amazing natural park to see some of the most unique Christmas attractions in the world. The caves will be illuminated with thousands of twinkling lights, and carolers will perform inside the magnificent underground chambers. There will be a Christmas maze for visitors to go on a mission to find Santa’s lost reindeer, a four-story obstacle course covered in lights (and a smaller one for the kids) followed by a zip line, a Christmas village with music, shopping, and concessions - complete with a giant Christmas tree. And what fun would it be without a hayride, s’mores, and hot chocolate? More information is available at the Natural Bridge Caverns website.

When: Friday-Sunday, 5:30-10:00 PM

Where: Natural Bridge Caverns, 26495 Natural Bridge Caverns Rd

It is no secret that New Braunfels has become a small town brewery scene and it has certainly appealed to the people who enjoy craft beers over the cheaper alternatives. Patek’s has been holding it down as one of the go-to places for fantastic drinks and copious amounts of laughter and fun in our little river town. This weekend they are having their 3rd Christmas Beer Festival, which will feature beers of only the holiday variety. Sample beers that taste like gingerbread, marshmallow, and other memorable flavors will flow throughout the day while you ring in the holiday spirit with friends. More up to date information will be on their Facebook event page.

When: Saturday, 1:00-5:00 PM

Where: Patek’s Craft Beer and Wine Bar, 494 N Union Ave

This weekend is a super special holiday edition of “Art Haus,” an event showcasing local artists' pieces, which are available for purchase. Come down, grab a drink, settle down next to the fire and take a look around at what our friends and neighbors have created. Artwork featured by Kelsey Huckaby, Hannah Bee, Christopher McKinney, and many more will be on display while Gong Fu Cha serves traditional Chinese tea. Music by the Vagabonds and, oh yeah, be sure to catch the fire spinning performance in the parking lot. Who said New Braunfels can't be weird too?
