Five Things to Do in New Braunfels This Weekend (September 23-25)

New Braunfels residents love that the town provides so much to see and do while still maintaining a great culture and small town feel. This weekend is no exception; there is a variety of different “things” happening in and around town. No need to research, five of the best fun things to do in New Braunfels this weekend are described below. Hopefully, this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little easier!

Experience the Comal County Fair

The Comal County Fair is this week, and it is jam packed with loads of fun things to do for fun-seekers of all ages. Although the fair kicked off on Tuesday, there is still plenty more to see and do during the final days of the largest fair in central Texas. Without bogging you down with the details (you can visit the Comal County Fair website for that), here are a few things you need to mark in your “must do” planner: the Pet Parade, Barnyard fun and petting baby chicks, the Tractor Pull (cause you ain’t a Texan without a tractor pull), Kids Rodeo Clown Contest, the plentiful amounts of food vendors providing you with the best diet-busters available, and obviously the massive carnival with rides, games, prizes, and more! See you there.

When: All weekend

Where: Comal County Fairgrounds, 701 Common St

See Gary Allen at Whitewater Amphitheater

Gary Allen is taking the stage this weekend at the Whitewater Amphitheater. For those of you saddened by Loretta Lynn canceling her shows at Gruene Hall this weekend, this show might be the country cure to what ails ya. Gary Allen is gearing up to release a new album next year, saying that listeners will get to take a ride alongside some “personal landscapes” of his life over the past few years. Allen is one of Texas’ favorite artists, gracing the stage of one of central Texas’ most exciting and visually stunning outdoor amphitheater. It’s a no-brainer if you’re looking for some Friday night fun to ease into the weekend.

When: Friday, 7:30PM

Where: Whitewater Amphitheater, 11860 FM 306

Catch the Frida Kahlo Exhibit Before it Ends

This weekend, the Westside Community Center is hosting a Frida Kahlo exhibit to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Kahlo is one of Mexico’s most beloved artists, and her work is taught in most art history courses around the world. This exhibit will feature pieces such as “The Bus”, “Frida and Diego Rivera”, “Self-portrait as a Tehuana”, “Self-portrait with Hair Down”, “Self-portrait with Monkeys”, and “The Frame”. For more information, please visit the Westside website.

When: Saturday, 9:00AM-5:00PM

Where: Westside Community Center, 2932 S I-35

Eat Some Amazing Desserts and Drink Some Incredible Coffee at 2tarts

Call it a late night snack this weekend when you head over to 2tarts Bakery for some sweet eats. This bakery is butter friendly (can we please get an amen?) and makes everything from scratch, which isn’t only a noble venture, but a palette-pleasing addition to this bakery’s many comforts. Going in early? 2tarts also makes wonderful espresso drinks, pour overs, and sweet and savory empanadas. They usually always have a fun decorated cookie on display for your consumption, and if you get a good look, you may be able to see them decorating a fondant cake worthy of being on the Food Network. Is your mouth not salivating right now?

When: Friday & Saturday 7:00AM-midnight, Sunday 7:00AM-10:00PM

Where: 2Tarts Bakery, 139 N Castell

Watch a Film at the Drafthouse

Alamo Drafthouse came to our town a couple of years ago and around the same time, we think we truly realized what it meant to love films. Not only do they show the current films, they also screen specifically curated movies with fun twists. This Sunday have some afternoon tea and snacks while you watch Marie Antoinette, or hop into a conga line at the Beetlejuice Movie Party (We're not kidding). Movie times can be found on the Alamo Drafthouse website, along with all the fun parties they host throughout the month.

When: See movie times on website

Where: Alamo Drafthouse Marketplace, 651 Texas 46 Business
