Five Things to Do in New Braunfels This Weekend (September 30- October 2)

There’s always something happening in New Braunfels! Though the small-town atmosphere is alive and well, the local calendar is anything but sleepy. This weekend is no exception: you have your choice of multiple events, deals, and happenings in and around town. No need to research...here are some of the best fun things to do in New Braunfels this weekend!

Check Out the Fall Into Art Festival

This Saturday New Braunfels is kicking off its Fall Into Art Month. Art can easily get lost in a town’s culture because of how personal and sacred it can be to display for the public. The McKenna Foundation is pouring its collective heart into seeing the New Braunfels community flourish in dang good art by creating funding through grants for artists. Events this weekend include a concert at River Road Ice House featuring Rumor Town and O’Malarkey, Painting with a Twist, and juried exhibits every day at the New Braunfels Art League. There is something going on EVERY DAY this month for Fall Into Art (or ARToberfest for you wordplay people), so be sure to check out the calendar to not miss out!

Spend the afternoon in the bleachers of Unicorn Stadium watching intricate marching formations and listening to that big beautiful brass section sweep you back to the glory days. The showcase begins at noon, and concessions and band fan gear will be on sale. For just $15 you can have access to the entire day.  For more details, make sure to check out the schedule.

See a Tribute to The Eagles and The Beatles

Get your pals and head over to the Brauntex Theater for a tribute double feature of two of music’s biggest names in history. Already Gone, a tribute to The Eagles, and Abbey Rode, a tribute to The Beatles, will take the stage this Saturday for a proper night of good tunes. Join your neighbors for a night of classic rock that has influenced just about every artist of any generation. Abbey Rode kicks off the night, so make sure to get your tickets and get there early. They might even do requests, so come prepared to hear your favorite song (personally we would shout for anything on Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour, and of course, Desperado).

When: Saturday, 7:30-10:00PM

Where: Brauntex Theater, 290 W San Antonio St

Drive-In to a Movie

It’s so fun to see a movie at the drive-in! At Stars and Stripes Drive-In Theater in New Braunfels, you can catch a double feature for a dang good price. Food is cheap and tickets for a double feature are $8 for adults and $5 for children age 4-11. Be it a minivan, a classic car, or a bed of a truck packed with friends, this is a great way to spend time with family and friends. Our double feature choice this weekend is Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and the classic Edward Scissorhands!

Get Some Fresh Food at the Farmer’s Market

The New Braunfels Farmer’s Market is the place to do your produce shopping for those fine foods! Local farmers and vendors (75 of them!) grab produce on Friday to sell fresh at the market, just like the old days. Goodies include grass-fed meats, eggs, bacon, pantry items, skin care, home and laundry care, baked goods, and some food hot and ready to eat!
